My songs
Music has been a constant companion throughout my life, not only during research, but also during many everyday moments. It inspires, comforts, energises, invites reflection, and sometimes simply provides a quiet background, depending on the task at hand and my state of mind.
Since adolescence, I have enjoyed a wide range of musical groups, from Ramones, 2 Minutos, Los Miserables, and The Clash to Pink Floyd, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and many others. It may be somewhat unexpected, but nowadays I listen to acoustic music quite often, usually softly while working, particularly soundtracks and composers such as Yann Tiersen and Ludovico Einaudi.
At the same time, platforms such as Spotify have made it possible to discover countless new artists, including Talco, The Porters, Frei.Wild, and Unantastbar; without abandoning more mainstream pop music by artists such as Bryan Adams, U2, James Blunt, Adele, The Lumineers, Dido, Passenger, and Lenka.
Every so often, a particular song captures my attention in a special way. When that happens, it tends to stay with me for several days, accompanying many moments of daily life, something my family good-naturedly describes as “a bit too much”.
On this page, I share a selection of songs that have captured my attention in that special way, and have accompanied me over the past few years. Perhaps one of them will resonate with you as well; by inspiring you, comforting you, energiasing you, encouraging reflection, or simply keeping you company at the right moment.
